Friday night, blech
I haven’t posted anything in a long time and I don’t like that this post is so short but all I have to say is Friday night (tonight specifically) blech

Working with Entourage, been a little frustrating. Currently falling asleep and generating this blog post to show a friend how the WordPress “TwitterPosts” plugin works for me.
I have been figuring out that between Quickbooks Pro + Bento 2 + Addressbook.app + Google Contacts that I’ll have a CRM solution. I need to be able to have/track customers between all of the applications since I haven’t found an “all-in-one” solution that doesn’t feel like overkill. I hope to eventually have hundreds and thousands of customers but I’m not there yet and most of the solutions I have found are for multiple users and a corporate-ton of customers. I’m almost tempted to drop Bento 2 since it requires a lot of attention that I feel could be better spent actually contacting customers. Simple solution would be to create a new group in my addressbook.app and just keep it sync’ed with google and Quickbooks.
So to wrap up my CRM rant I’m looking for a: single user + integratable (Quickbooks Pro on PC, addressbook on Google, mac client counterpart, and Blackberry from the cloud) + small customer base/startup with ability to import from xls/numbers file.

MyGayGo posted my writing and pictures from our Pride Charlotte 2009 experience on 7/25/09! http://pea.to/ncpride
Updated the theme for my blog and no matter what (even redirecting traffic to FeedBurner (http://feeds2.feedburner.com/cfgonzales/PSVl) my wordpress doesn’t refresh the xml for my feed. Guess I’ll pick up on this again tomorrow or whatever. It’s too late and We have a lot of stuff to do before our Ohio trip Wednesday. :/
We have been hanging out at the house waiting for any sort of news from Mama Marilyn. I hope the doctor was able to look at everything. Talk about anxiety.
On the tech side of today I have been trying out different iPod applications and seeing if there will be something to consolidate my social networking online. I’ll follow this post up later this weekend as to which apps I stick with.
I have been hosting google apps on my server for a few months now but had been having trouble only using my personal login for services of google apps. I was able to slim down all the accounts to one main google account and then use the same user name as my hosted apps account and so far so good because if you are hosting then your hosted app login will take priority over the standard google account

I found an old blogger account that had a bunch of my old posts still on it. I figured this is better than leaving a blank site up so I imported all my old posts into my current site. Yay wordpress Import function
I axed drupal and am sticking with wordpress so that I can focus on template manipulation & creation for a single CMS. I’m currently studying up on meh programming in an attempt to become a more rounded geek. I’ll be heading towards C# .Net which also includes some SQL. There are a few books I’m reading at the moment and not all of them are programming
It has been too long since my last post or even my last behind the scene update to my configuration to at least make the beta section a little more presentable. The core goal of cfgonzales dot com will still be to execise my web practices to include design and programming experimentation and implementation. So far out of the beta blog and live sites I have only been able to consistently use the email I have set up through dreamhost for my domain. It has been a practical solution to being able to access my email no matter where I am at and not have to rely on a third party solution. I ultimately hope to implement a blog that is also free of any third party servers in an attempt to force myself to use a “real world” situation and deal with the fruits and headaches of hosting my own services. I have learned that Google has a few tools that are “hostable” instead of using their servers and I might try a couple of those out for ease of use before moving on to anything more complicated.
Drupal has turned out to be a little too much for the casual blogger but I wanted to use it as a learning project to further learn how a full fledged CMS with all the bells and whistles can be set up and customized. It has been indirectly suggested that I should scale it back to a smaller CMS system in order to gain a better grasp at customizing the look and feel of a site before moving into the myriad of different modules most of the bigger CMS systems use. I’m very tempted to scratch the entire beta site in lieu of a WordPress installation….very tempted.
On a tangent I hope to have my personal and beta blogs shared amongst like minded individuals in an attempt to give some insight and possibly get some feedback on any of these ideas. At the same time I am keeping up with at least one friend’s blog hoping that it will spark some sort of creative peer insight.
